Iran to vie at WUL 3X3 basketball
TEHRAN, Sep. 10 (MNA) – Iranian university 3X3 Basketball team will depart Tehran for Xiamen of China on Sunday evening to take part at 2017 FISU World University League (WUL).
The third edition of WUL 3X3 Basketball will kick off on September 14 in China’s Xiamen and will run through September 17.
Accordingly, the 3X3 basketball squad of Iran’s Payame Noor University will leave for the Chinese city today. The Iranian outfit comprises Shayan Kavepour, Aliollah Verdi, Amir Sedighi as well as Payam Kiani headed by Mohammad Reza Eslami.
A total of 16 university teams will be present at the sportive event to represent various continents. All costs of the tournament have been undertaken by the Asian University Sports Federation (AUSF).
Persian basketball players had landed in the sixth position in the previous edition of WUL 3X3 Basketball.
The official competition place will be located in Xiamen Campus, Huaqiao University. Meanwhile, the training will take place in the indoor basketball venue at Xiamen University of Technology.
3x3 Basketball is a form of the game played three a side on one hoop. It is the largest urban team sport of the world. The sport was added to the World University Championship program with a first edition hosted in Kragujevac, Serbia.
The sport is tailor-made for university students. Each game lasts a maximum of 10 minutes. There’s a 12-second shot clock, ensuring teams take risks and attack the rim.
With teams composed of three players, plus one possible substitute, it’s easy to field a team. It is just players playing as no coaching is allowed during a competition.
